Red Leaf Kale
The nutrition content, flavor, texture, and versatility of this vegetable is second to none. Kale can be used in stir-fries to salads. Plant Kale from anytime between early spring to early summer and harvest from fall until the ground freezes in the winter. Each packet comes with at-least 25 plus seeds.
Brussels Sprouts are easy to grow and taste completely different when grown and eaten fresh from the garden. Sautéed Brussels sprouts with fresh garlic and olive oil are a family favorite. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last spring frost. Raised beds are especially recommended for cold season vegetables, especially when seasons are changing and temps are not consistent. Dill is not just for canning pickles, dill is great dried or fresh in hummus, soups, salad, salsa, and sauces. Our favorite is fresh dill sauce over grilled salmon. Dill does not grow well when transplanted, so start the seeds fresh in the garden in early summer. Sweet Cherry Tomato
Plant seeds in starter pots in late March in a greenhouse or warm environment. Tomato starts can be planted outside after the last frost or kept in a greenhouse for optimal growth. Place plants in a sunny area with 6 hours of sun light daily. Outdoor plants should be 24 inches apart paying attention to propping fruit bunches off the ground to prevent pests mold and disease. Pear tomatoes are mild in flavor. Home grown tomatoes have a thicker skin that store bought tomatoes. These tomatoes are delicious fresh with a sprinkle of balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Yellow pear tomato plants may bear small fruits, but the vines themselves can reach as tall as 12 feet. For that reason, the heirloom fruits, which are technically in the cherry tomato class, need a support structure such as a wire cage. Packets contain 15+ seeds in each.
Milestone Sweet Onion
Sweet onions can be used in any dish that requires onions. Caramelized onion hummus is a family favorite. These onions are easy to grow and can be eaten raw or cooked and are mild and sweet to the taste. Very large, globe shaped, extra hard bulbs with beautiful skin and thin necks. Sweet honey tomatoes are like no other. These tomatoes are eaten right off the vine and are excellent in salads, salsa, sauces, anti pasta dishes and much more.
